Nemzz: A New Formula for UK Drill

A couple of years ago, Central Cee hit the scene and helped push UK rap onto international charts, playlists, and award shows. The slang, melodic flow, and rhythm felt new, and it didn’t take long for that sound to start influencing music in the US. It wasn’t just rap, it was UK drill bringing a different energy, something unfamiliar but hard to ignore.

Now we’re seeing more collaborations between US artists and UK drill rappers. When you first hear it, you might think it’s Central Cee, and that makes sense. But don’t get it confused. There’s another artist coming up fast, and his name is Nemzz.

Nemzz is a little different from what people expect UK rap to sound like, and yeah, some listeners have been critical. But let’s be real, wouldn’t it be boring if everyone sounded the same? UK rap is typically fast-paced, heavy on slang, and often incorporates African beats. Nemzz switches that formula up. He blends drill with jazz elements and pulls in Jersey club influences, creating a sound that stands out almost immediately. Once you hear it, you can tell the difference.

He’s already making noise with last year’s tracks “PTSD” and “Escape,” and the fact that he’s a 2004 kid with a Latto collaboration? That’s Art. Some people won’t fully believe in him until he drops a massive hit that’s impossible to escape. But when that moment comes, it won’t be random. His journey has been documented from the start, built on releasing music that stayed true to his style.

Sometimes, it really only takes one difference to become unforgettable.
