From Singing Mailman to Nashville’s Next Star: Meet Preston Cooper
Some blue jeans, a rugged western-style hat, and a searing guitar—oh, and of course, that powerhouse vocal range. It all leads not to Chris Stapleton, but to country newcomer Preston Cooper. I'm calling it now: 2025 is going to be his breakout year, if it isn’t already.
From opening select dates on Kameron Marlowe’s Keepin’ the Lights On Tour to joining Riley Green’s Damn Country Music Tour, it’s only going to take one listen for fans to become Preston Cooper believers.
The 22-year-old artist from Fredericktown, Ohio, is putting a fresh spin on country rock, standing shoulder to shoulder with rising stars like Ella Langley and Marcus King. What sets Preston apart is his soulful, blues-infused voice, drawing comparisons to heavy-hitters like Chris Stapleton and Teddy Swims. It’s the kind of voice that makes your head turn from the very first note. Just listen to his debut single, “Weak.” That raspy, rich vocal backed by a full band, steel guitar and all, delivers the full effect of country rock with a bluesy edge. Tell me it doesn’t make you want to hear more.
It’s pretty amazing, honestly—Preston first gained local fame as “The Singing Mailman,” belting out raw, raspy vocals on his daily USPS route. Now, he’s the latest discovery of Nashville legends Brad and Brett Warren, better known as The Warren Brothers. Making the move to Music City is no small feat. In a town of 700,000 people, half of them probably chasing the same dream, Preston manages to stand out. And when the Warren Brothers spot talent, they don’t miss. Their influence runs deep in country music, having written hits for Tim McGraw, and Keith Urban. And now? They’ve put their weight behind Preston Cooper.
Simply put: he’s the next big thing in country music. Don’t sleep on him.
